The output frequency will be the same over the entire length of the
simulation. For both 2-D and 3-D biogeochemical and physical
variables, model groups will provide monthly mean output fields (12
records per year).
- Physical
- [ 3-D ] Potential Temperature [ C ] , Salinity [psu ], potential density [ kg/m^3 ], the three components
of velocity [ m/s ] , and if the parameterization is used, of
bolus velocity, the vertical diffusivity coefficient [ m^2/s
] .
- [ 2-D ] Total heat flux [ W/m^2 ], Shortwave heat flux
[ W/m^2 ], E-P [ mm/day ], mixed layer
depth defined by the 0.01 density difference criterion [ m ],
SST [ C ], SSS [ psu ], sea ice concentration,
and SSH [ m ] . If SSH is not a prognostic variable, it should be
diagnosed from the pressure gradient.
- Biogeochemical
- [ 3-D ] All 3-D prognostic tracers should be provided [mol/m^3 ] . Since the total number of these variables differ
between the different models, we do not give a precise list here. In
addition to the tracers, participants should provide total primary
production [ mol C/m^3/s ] , export production by sinking
particles [ mol C/m^2/s ] . If available, new production [mol C/m^3/s ] , biogenic silica production [ mol Si/m^3/s
] , export of biogenic silica [ mol Si/m^2/s ] and of
CaCO3 [ mol C/m^2/s ] will be given.
- [ 2-D ] Surface concentrations of all the tracers [mol/m^3 ] , vertically integrated primary production [ mol
C/m^2/s ] , export production by sinking particles at 100m
[ mol C/m^2/s ] , surface pCOn2 [ uatm ] , dpCO2
(pCO2surf - pCO2atm) [ uatm ] , air-to-sea CO2 flux [mol/m^2/s ] , air-to-sea O2 flux [ mol C/m^2/s ] . If
available, participants should also provide vertically integrated
biogenic silica production [ mol Si/m^2/s ] , biogenic iron
production [ mol Fe/m^2/s ] , and CaCO3 production [ mol
C/m^2/s ] .
